Seamless and secure, remote network access. Curo provides hassle-free deployment using the UK’s leading Always On VPN expert.
Microsoft ’s ‘Always On VPN’ provides seamless, secure and transparent remote network access that builds on the success of DirectAccess. It aims to improve on DirectAccess, including support for Windows 10 Professional and non-domain joined devices, as well as cloud integration with Intune and Azure Active Directory.
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection is automatically established any time an authorised client has an active internet connection. It does not require input from or interaction with the user (unless multi-factor authentication is enabled).
Security is key to remote access. Always On VPN provides traffic filters, conditional access, Windows Hello single sign-on, and custom IPsec cryptographic algorithms to meet stringent security policies. It’s approved and used by the UK government’s National Cyber Security Centre.
Microsoft’s ‘Always On VPN’ provides feature parity with DirectAccess, but also brings with it some important and significant advantages too.
The precursor to Always On VPN, DirectAccess, used IPv6 exclusively for communication. IPv6 translation allows for communication with internal IPv4 hosts. While this works in many scenarios, there are still challenges with applications that do not support IPv6.
Always On VPN supports both IPv4 and IPv6, so incompatibility issues are a thing of the past. This reduces protocol overhead and improves network performance.
Always On VPN is implemented entirely on the Windows 10 client, so any third-party VPN device can be used on the back end, including Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, Forti net, SonicWALL, F5 and others. It’s possible to mix & match the backend if required.
Importantly, VPN devices can be upgraded, replaced, and moved internally without requiring corresponding policy changes on the client. It’s much less disruptive to clients in the field.
Always On VPN is included with Windows 10 so there are no additional charges, unlike third-party solutions which may have maintenance and ongoing support costs.
