The Role:
Our client is looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to join their team on permanent basis. As part of this role, you will be based in their client’s office in Reading and will be responsible for providing IT support to clients. The role will suit someone with experience in working in client-facing positions. This is an on-site position based in Reading.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing remote and second line support to clients
  • Taking ownership of tickets assigned
  • Supporting all Microsoft desktop operating systems
  • Supporting all Microsoft and other application software (desktop)
  • Ensuring that tickets get resolved within the respective service level agreements
  • Moving and setting-up of working environment with connection of screens, printers, and other peripherals
  • General hardware troubleshooting (desktop and iDevices)
  • General troubleshooting on all IT related equipment (Desktops, Laptops, iPads & iPhones)
  • Assisting customers telephonically
  • Remote administration of workstations and mobile
  • Executing orders and following up service and repairs with external suppliers
  • Identifying possible risks or problems and escalating to relevant manager

You will have experience in:

  • A minimum of two years desktop support experience.
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory administration: resetting passwords, disabling and deleting users
  • Configuration and administration of Office 365
  • Logging and following up calls with external suppliers and service providers
  • Excellent knowledge of hardware components and hardware troubleshooting procedures (desktop and mobile devices)
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems and desktop software
  • Excellent communications skills
