Global ESG Lead

Salary – Competitive
Remote – Anywhere UK with UK travel once per month and Global travel 4 times per year.
Benefits – 25 days annual leave (increasing to 30 with length of service), 4 x life insurance, pension contributions starting from 6% increasing to 10%, single private medical insurance.

The Candidate:
The Global Operations ESG lead will be responsible for managing environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues across the customer’s supply chain and operations functions. This includes working closely with other members of the global operations team to:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation,
  • Ensure effective management of key ESG impacts, risks, and opportunities,
  • Establish and implement ESG improvement initiatives
  • Collect, analyze, and report on ESG data

You will combine your strategic thinking with a hands on approach to deliver core aspects of the sustainability strategy, especially related to circular economy, environmental management and scope 3 carbon reporting.

Responsibilities – Sustainable supply chain:

  • Establish and manage a supply chain ESG risk framework, which will map suppliers and their significant ESG risks and opportunities, and define the appropriate management approach
  • Develop an ESG capacity development programme to provide resources for suppliers who need additional support to meet these requirements
  • Engage with suppliers on ESG management and targets, sustainability agreements, our supplier code of conduct, and collecting relevant ESG data
  • Measure carbon emissions that fall within scope 3 of the GHG protocol

Sustainable Operations:

  • Support the implementation of an ISO 14001 environmental management system across all global sites and functions
  • Establish and deliver a waste management plan that will reduce waste generation and support a zero to landfill objective.

General Responsibilities:

  • Collate and track relevant ESG performance data, report on KPIs and prepare performance dashboards as required
  • Contribute to Group ESG committee and initiatives
  • Coordinate ESG activities between different programmes, functions and business units
  • Work with stakeholders across all parts of the Global Operations that include UK, Hong Kong, and the US
  • Help to educate and advise the business on sustainability practices
  • Contribute to risk planning and management for Global Operations

Requirements – Essential:

  • A credible understanding of ESG impacts, risks and opportunities across the entire value chain
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, influencing skills and happy to communicate across all levels of the business
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Enthusiastic about ESG and passionate to deliver programs
  • Experience of introducing or managing ISO 14001 standards
  • Auditing skills
  • MS software such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience of working independently
  • Relevant qualification (Degree or similar), or 3 years plus experience working in such a role
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence decisions at all levels and command respect from all areas of the business
  • The ability to assert expertise and achieve objectives diplomatically
  • Self-motivated with strong leadership skills
  • The ability to manage simultaneous projects and deliver the core role effectively in a pressured environment
  • Professional with a strong service-driven mentality and a pragmatic approach
  • Commitment to the highest standards of customer service


  • Working knowledge of electronic hardware and software
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant topic
  • ISO 14001 lead/internal auditor
  • Membership of sustainability, supply chain or environmental professional body
