IT Project Engineer

Location – Hybrid (4 Days a month min Milton Keynes)
Salary – £30,000 to £35,000 per annum, plus £6,000 Car Allowance plus benefits
Start Date – ASAP

The Role:
Our client is looking for an experienced Project Solutions Engineer to join their team in Milton Keynes and provide support to one of their many clients. The role offers fantastic growth opportunities – work hard, learn as you go and work your way up the support ladder with a great team support structure. You’ll be engaging with a range of clients, so the ideal candidate needs to have confident communication abilities. You will be responsible for planning and implementing all project activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring project objectives are met and smooth transition to the service desk. The role will suit someone who is creative, analytical problem solver with the ability to apply original and innovative thinking and follows a methodical approach suitable to resolution of client requirements.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Creating work-plan based presales BoM and work with the project manager to create project plan
  • Implementing the Project Implementation work, ensuring all activities are actioned in line with project plans and timelines.
  • Tracking and updating project activities and deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Constantly monitoring and reporting on progress of the project to all stakeholders.
  • Escalating when the project is at risk of not delivering to the agreed requirements or timescales.
  • Escalating when scope creep occurs to ensure change request process is followed
  • Managing client expectations through clear communications.
  • Creating and maintaining customer specific infrastructure documentation.
  • Supporting colleague development to enable them to resolve issues confidently and effectively.
  • Taking responsibility for own continual professional development, ensuring up to date industry and technical knowledge.
  • Undertaking all other reasonable requests.
  • Managing and working to internal and customer SLA’s, escalating any concerns.
  • End to end ownership of problem resolution.
  • Managing client expectations through clear communications.

You will have experience in:

  • Managing or supporting projects.
  • Working in a customer facing role
  • Familiar with working to SLA’s to meet both customer and contract requirements
  • Working as part of a wider service delivery function.
  • Supporting multi-site clients.
  • A good level of knowledge and application in MS Windows Server Technologies, Exchange Technologies, Active Directory
  • Firewalls, Router & VPN Technologies
  • Experience of managing or supporting large scale projects.
  • Office 365
  • VMWare
  • Azure
  • 2+ years’ experience as a Field based engineer supporting SME’s.

Required skill-set:

  • Installing, configuring, troubleshooting issues, decommissioning & making recommendations for upgrade using
  • All MS Windows Server Platforms
  • All SBS Platforms
  • All MS Exchange Technologies
  • MS365, O365, Sharepoint, Teams
  • Azure configuration and migrations
  • Apple Technologies
  • Android & Windows Mobile Technologies
  • PC/Server Hardware – upgrade, both hardware and firmware. Raid configurations, iLO.
  • Comms Cabinet Patching
  • AD – configure sites and services, resolve issues.
  • DNS – running through the DNS structure to ensure domain entries exist for DC’s, moving external DNS services around to different IP’s when internet changes.
  • VMWare / SAN – determine system state.
  • Group Policies – create, breakdown, troubleshoot issues.
  • Firewalls, Routers & VPN’s – install, configure & troubleshoot
  • NAS & SAN Technologies
  • Project Management; PRINCE2 or equivalent
