The Candidate:
The successful candidate will be an experienced, knowledgeable, and opinionated senior researcher, with the ability to support user research activities. Working in a small design team based in the UK, with an extended design family in the US, this role requires someone who can own the research activities that will underpin the company’s transformation to becoming fully user centred. You’ll be joining at a great time, the business recognises the importance of exceptional design, and will want you to support in making it happen!

The Job:
You’ll be joining a high-performing team, who have a robust design system in place, great prototyping tools, fluid communication & design feedback channels, and have been running extensive user research activities over the last 12 months. They want to explore research tools, research methods, ways to more effectively communicate insights, ways to better embed evidence-based design into our product creation process, etc. all with an aim to make the Product Design capability industry leading. We’re looking for someone with the skills and experience to be this vital missing piece of this design puzzle.

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrable and relevant experience with a degree or higher in Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors or a related discipline.
  • Comfortable planning, scoping, conducting, analysing and communicating research.
  • Confident in quantitative research methods, metrics and A/B tests, with the ability to synthesise quantitative data with qualitative user research.
  • Appreciation for insight gathering & analysis techniques such as Jobs-To-Be-Done, Outcome-Driven Innovation, etc., and is willing to take a pragmatic approach to applying the best bits to user research.
  • Understanding of research theory and best practice, and realising a pragmatic approach is usually the most valuable.
  • Comfortable learning the basics of complex technical domains.
  • Loves working on problems, rather than features.
  • Not fazed by loosely defined problems.
  • Cares about ensuring technical products are accessible and inclusive.
  • Strong portfolio, showing how their research helped build better products.
  • Working collaboratively
  • Confident communicating with clarity and enthusiasm.
  • Enjoyment of autonomy.
