Security Architect (Contract)

The Role:
As the Enterprise Security Architect, you will play a critical role in defining and implementing the organisation’s security posture. You will be involved in the strategic leadership, vision, and alignment of security architecture with business objectives and you will design, build, test, implement, and audit security systems within the IT network.

The Opportunity:

  • Gain an in depth understanding of the security landscape, it’s requirements, scope and constraints.
  • Evaluate the current approach, architecture, controls, tools and technologies and build a roadmap for enhancements.
  • Evolve the security architecture, and supporting process that enables the development and implementation of security solutions and capabilities that are clearly aligned with business, technology, and threat drivers.
  • Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements, applying information security standards, conducting system security and vulnerability analyses, and studying architecture/platform.
  • Develop and implement security for operating systems, web applications, database, cloud infrastructure, services and network infrastructure components.
  • Work closely with data and application architects to optimise permissions hierarchies and cascade them in to data and applications.
  • Provide technical direction to the security team, data and development teams.
  • Provide guidance of information security related non-functional requirements during design and build, and audit/test/approve built systems to validate compliance to Information Security requirements.
  • Prepare system security reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising data and trends; present security system status by preparing and delivering briefings.
  • Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging security practices and standards; participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organisations.

The Person:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent significant work experience in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems or a related field.
  • Professional security management certification, such as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or other similar credentials.
  • Proven experience as a Security Architect or similar role with a minimum of 5 years in an enterprise environment.
  • In-depth understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, and security – specifically experience with Okta is essential.
  • Good working knowledge of current IT risks and experience implementing security solutions.
  • Experience with cloud estates, particularly Microsoft 365, and its licensing, and Azure.
