The Candidate:
This role would suit a candidate with a background in Hardware Engineering, and System level design including hard and soft elements. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling engineering test equipment, e.g. Phase noise analyser, network analyser, spectrum analysis, JTAG etc. NPI experience, coupled with board level circuit design knowledge, would set you in good stead. We are looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience in project technical leadership, and extensive hands-on experience in working within a structured engineering environment that includes Requirements Analysis/Definition, Design/Implementation, Defect Tracking, and Testing.

The Role:
The Project Technical Lead is responsible for all elements of technical project leadership, within the organisations Product development team. This involves leadership of cross functional teams and liaising with various functions throughout the organisation. We are looking for a candidate who is comfortable, taking the lead, with strong communication skills. This role requires conflict resolution ability, for when it comes to conflicting design decisions around project development. You will have an Individual contribution towards project delivery. A good appreciation of overall systems so is able to consider technical leadership for aspects of the project both inside and outside their area of technical expertise, is essential.

Key Duties:

  • Technical Leadership of projects made up of cross discipline engineers at varying levels of seniority.
  • Coordinate and provide technical input into Product Management Team against customer requirements.
  • Determine technical resource required for project execution.
  • Requirements capture.
  • Work with the organisations Product Realisation Process, including all stages of the product lifecycle: Concept, Requirements capture, planning/estimation, detailed design, implementation, qualification, and end of life.
  • Leading design review meetings (including gathering required inputs and completing documentation).
  • Determine validation and qualification requirements working closely with Product Verification Team.
  • Providing technical leadership to a cross functional team during the design and development of technical projects. Includes the need to understand and account for requirements outside of normal discipline (e.g. Software, Hardware, non-engineering teams).
  • Work with Project Management Office to provide technical updates on project progress, monitor risks and execute Project plans. Work with PMO to manage resource contention.
  • Make decisions around technical implementation of projects.
  • Be an individual contributor within projects in area of engineering discipline e.g. Hardware
  • Consider inputs from all areas of the business required for product launch (e.g. Operations, Global Services, Supply Chain, and Commercial).

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science / Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in working within a structured engineering environment that includes Requirements Analysis/Definition, Design/Implementation, Defect Tracking, and Testing.
  • Demonstrable experience in project technical leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving, presentation and analytical skills.
  • Team player with highly collaborative and positive attitude.
  • Eager to learn new technologies, self-motivated, energetic approach.
  • Demonstrable mentoring and training experience.
  • Communicates effectively, listens sensitively, adapts communication to audience and fosters effective communication with others.
  • Good problem-solving skills coupled with a strong aptitude to learn and innovate.
  • Experience in handling engineering test equipment, e.g. Phase noise analyser, network analyser, spectrum analysis, JTAG etc.
  • Board level electronic circuit design.
  • New Product Introduction experience.
  • Knowledge of Project management tools and methods.
  • System level design including hard and soft elements.
  • Experience of RF electronics or FPGA design would be an advantage.
  • Experience in Digital Modulation techniques, Communications theory, Signal Processing and Matlab are all an advantage.
